‘Uncle’ Charlie Wilson to ring in 2024 with New Year’s Eve Detroit concert

Uncle Charlie is spending New Years Eve in Detroit, and you’re invited to spend it with him.

Charlie Wilson will perform at Detroit’s Fox Theatre on Dec. 31, venue officials announced Thursday.

Tank and Ro James will open the show, which features a 9:30 p.m. start time.

Wilson, 70, is an R&B legend and the former lead singer of the Gap Band. In addition to his own hits he’s known for his collaborations with artists such as Snoop Dogg, Kanye West, Zapp, T.I. and more.

Wilson’s last area concert was at Little Caesars Arena in March 2022 with New Edition and Jodeci.

Last year, the Isley Brothers and Maze featuring Frankie Beverly rang in the New Year at the Fox.
